Budget Consultation 2009

Every year the Council consults with taxpayers on its likely budget proposals. This year the Council has again proposed a tax increase of only 2.9% and must make savings of £2 million. In order to achieve all of this in the current economic climate the Council faces some tough decisions and has proposed a number of initiatives that we would like your views on. Tough Economic Climate

logo of a reportTough economic conditions will mean Boston Borough Council has to keep its focus on keeping costs down and making savings in the next financial year. That’s the situation facing councillors as they look at early draft budget proposals which could see £1.8 million in savings, keeping the Council Tax rise low at 2.9% and proposals to invest in Geoff Moulder Leisure Centre which will reduce running costs.

Six households, keen to reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions, are being sought for a new project called the Boston Energy Saving Challenge. Conserving energy and using it more efficiently is one of the easiest ways to reduce the impact on climate change and save money at the same time.
