Parkrun: A force for good

The Force is strong with Boston parkrun. Even Darth Vader was unable to resist the irresistible attraction of the first anniversary celebration.

The runners have been getting fit at Witham Way Country Park and growing in numbers at 9am every Saturday over the past 12 months. It is free and non-competitive, with runners only running against the clock over a 5km course. It is organised by volunteers and ends with coffee, and breakfast if runners wish, in the Burton House Brewers Fayre.

So far 1,038 runners have taken part with an average turnout of 87 a week. In the past year the runners have put in a combined total of 23,200km (14,415 miles).
