Extra lane at Boston junction

Improvements to help ease congestion at the A1121 (Boardsides) junction with A17 will start on Wednesday, October 17 2012, lasting one week.

From Wednesday to Friday,  October 19, the A1121 approach to the junction will be made wider to create two lanes. A one-way road closure will be in place. Traffic travelling west will be diverted at the Sleaford Road roundabout via the A52 onto the A17.

Between Monday, October 22and Wednesday, October 24, the A1121 will be fully closed to surface the new approach to the junction and resurface the A17/A1121 slip road.

Hamish McConchie, principal highways officer, said: "When we resurface the slip road two-way stop-go signs will be used at times on the A17 at Swineshead Bridge to protect the workforce.

"To minimise disruption to motorists the A1121 will be open for motorists to use over the weekend. The junction needs this extra lane and I'm sure it will be welcomed by people who use this road."
