Tribute to Mary Clark, Guide Dogs for the Blind

Leader of Boston Borough Council, Cllr Peter Bedford, has paid tribute to Guide Dogs for the Blind fundraiser, Mary Clark, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday night.

Cllr Bedford said: "I was saddened to hear of the unexpected and sudden death of Mary, who did so much for the blind and visually impaired and was one of the earliest members of Boston Disability Forum.

"She was very well known and often seen out with her guide dog raising funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind. She will be missed."

Mary, married with a son and two grandchildren, was born with a hereditary eye condition which resulted in blindness.  She had been a guide dog owner since 1987.

She had been involved with Fishtoft Cubs, a governor at Hawthorn Tree Primary School, a SSAFA/British Legion caseworker, organiser of the Boston and District Fundraising Branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind, Trustee and Secretary of Blind Outdoor Leisure Development and founder member of the Boston Disability forum.

She was a member of Fishtoft Parish Council.
