Housing can have a major effect on the health, wellbeing and social position of a person.

Although Boston Borough Council are no longer a provider of council housing, with the housing stock having been transferred to Boston Mayflower Ltd in 1999, we still retain the responsibility to provide a number of statutory housing services to the population of the district.

Details of Housing Services that are delivered by the Housing Department are summarised below. More detailed information on each area can be obtained by clicking the appropriate link.
 

The Housing Department:

- Provide a comprehensive housing advice & information service across all tenures,
- Provide a comprehensive homelessness service to assist those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness,
- Operate & maintain a Common Housing Register to provide a single route from where people can access housing - Boston Homechoice, Choice Based Lettings (please click here to download a Housing Registration Form

Monitor housing conditions and take appropriate enforcement action to improve standards,
- Provide means tested assistance to vulnerable households in the owner occupied and private rented sector to provide them with a decent home - Decent Home Assistance,
- Provide financial assistance for disabled adaptations and offer an agency service to assist applicants - Disabled Facilities Grants,

- Advice and guidance if you are under threat of of being repossessed through rent or mortgage arrears.

- Promote energy awareness and support domestic energy saving initiatives,
- Gather strategic market information to inform strategy and policy development, shape investment decisions and inform the Borough's Housing Strategy.
- Enable the provision of high quality affordable housing,
- Manage the Redstone Travellers Site.
