The Council’s Housing Department provides a free and comprehensive advice and information service to anyone living within the Borough who has a housing problem no matter how big or how small.

Homeless prevention measures are also available to prevent households becoming homeless. These include:

If you are threatened with repossession through mortgage or rent arrears, help may be available. A Mortgage help leaflet is available with advice.  There is also information available at mortgagehelp.direct.gov.uk  where you can create your own action plan to address mortgage issues.  Rent Deposit Scheme – to assist eligible households into private rented housing. Please click here to view information leaflet.
Homelessness Prevention Payment – an interest free loan of up to £750
Sanctuary Scheme - to enable victims of domestic violence to remain in their own homes when possible and desired
Mediation - to resolve family disputes where household members have been told to leave home
