Ward: Swineshead and Holland Fen
Party: Independent

I have been a Parish Councillor for Holland Fen with Brothertoft since 1965 and a Borough Councillor since 1991. I served as The Deputy Mayor of Boston from 21 May 2007, having served as The Worshipful the Mayor of Boston since 15 May 2006.

Over the years, I have sat on most of the Council committees, including being Chairman for a number of Committees including the Direct Services Organisation, Community Services and Personnel.

I served as Deputy Leader of the Council from 2002, and was a member of Cabinet with a Portfolio for Finance and Performance, until 15 May 2006.

I am a member of the following committees:

Overview and Scrutiny Policy & Projects Committee
Planning (as a substitute)
Standards Committee
and also serve on the Chief Officers Appointments Panel and Way Forward Group

I represent Boston Borough Council on the Witham Fourth and the Welland and Deepings Internal Drainage Boards, the Local Government Association's Rural Commission and the Wash Estuary Strategy Members Group.

I have been a local farmer all my working life and am actively involved in union work with the National Farmers Union and was on the National Council for four years.

My favourite hobbies include reading, crosswords and travelling. In my youth I played Rugby Union and I still umpire the odd cricket match.
