Elected on 3rd May 2007, Councillor Jordan served as Deputy Leader of the Council until 2009 and as a Member of Cabinet until he was sworn in as The Worshipful the Mayor of Boston for 2010/11.

Councillor Jordan is also a Member of the Boston Town Area Committee (BTAC), the Licensing / Regulatory & Appeals Committee, Chief Officer Appointments Panel and the International Links Committee.

Prior to taking up the role of Mayor, Councillor Jordan represented the Council on various outside bodies: the Local Government Association's Rural Commission and on Lincolnshire Enterprise as a Board Member, and as a substitute on the East Midlands Regional Assembly and Local Government East Midlands.
