Councillor Peter Bedford was elected to the Council in 1991 and re-elected in May 2007 and served as The Worshipful the Mayor of Boston for the year 2008/09.

Councillor Bedford is a Member of the Planning Committee and the Overview & Scrutiny Policy & Projects Committee. Councillor Bedford also represents the Council on the Black Sluice Internal Drainage Board, Holland Museums Panel, Wash and North Norfolk Coast Special Area of Conservation Members Group and the Witham Fourth District Internal Drainage Board.

Councillor Bedford is also a Member of Lincolnshire County Council, representing the Boston Coastal Division.
