The Boston Woods Trust

Woods for Boston

Founded in 2001, The Boston Woods Trust was formed to provide the people of Boston with a much needed amenity for recreational purposes including walking, bird watching, horse riding and cycling.

It is planted that there will eventually be accessible walks along 7 miles of mixed native deciduous woodland, wildflower meadows and ponds in a roughly crescent shaped corridor to the west of the town. Also planned is an arboretum and country park of specimen trees dedicated to the Lincolnshire botanist Sir Joseph Banks.

Please help us create the wonderful facility for all to enjoy, the woods will make Boston a better place to live for you, your children and grandchildren.

A vision for the future!

"The future is green"

Where will the woods be?

An indication of the proposed extent of the woodland is shown on the map below.

LeavesTo date we have created 45 acres of new woodland, one between Old Hammond Beck Road and Fivehouse Lane and two on Fenside Road.
The woods are open for everyone to enjoy. There are pathways through the woods and as the woods develop so will the paths.

The Boston Woods Trust

The first 23 acres were purchased (through the Woodland Trust) and planted in 1999, between Five House Lane and Old Hammond Beck Road in Wyberton. A further 21 acres were planted in November 2001, the planting was co-ordinated by the trustees and carried out by volunteers from the local community.

Community Involvement

It is hoped that local schools and organisations will also participate in the formation of the woods and that the last Sunday morning in November will be the annual Boston woods tree planting day.

With the current price of land between £2500 and £4000 per acre, depending on its agricultural quality, the Trust needs to raise in excess of £250,000 per annum to realise the 100 acres a year target.

Will you help us realise the dream?
