Private Tenants who pay rent to a Housing Association
Any entitlement you have to Housing Benefit will normally be paid directly to your Landlord. This payment will be credited to your Landlords Bank account every four weeks in arrears.
The payments of any entitlement will be issued on the dates given in the payment calendar.
If you have to make up any shortfall in your rent you must contact your Landlord to arrange this.
Housing Benefit payment by BACS
This means that the payment is sent direct to a bank account.
Payments are raised four weekly in arrears. The first payment you receive may be made in advance of one of these dates if you are owed arrears. Your payments should then fall due in line with the dates in the payment calendar.
Once we have raised the payment on our system it takes 3 to 4 days to reach your account. We endeavour to make funds available to you by the Monday but you should allow until Wednesday or Thursday for it to reach your account. Where there is a Bank Holiday Monday we will process the payment early to ensure it reaches your account at the required time.
If you need to confirm that the payment has been issued and received please check your bank account first.
Council Tax Support
Any entitlement to Council Tax Support will be directly credited to your Council Tax Account.
You will receive a bill to advise you of the balance and details of any instalments that you may need pay.
Even if you receive help towards your Council Tax you will still have to pay some of the charge.
