Be A Councillor Campaign

Details about the 'Be A Councillor' campaign

A programme of activity has been launched to encourage people from our communities to get involved in local government.

Meetings with the Local Government Association have already taken place.

If you are passionate about your local community, we need you.

Councillors make a huge difference to the quality of life of local people and how local issues are dealt with.

We need people from all backgrounds and experiences who reflect the communities they serve to put themselves forward for election.

If you're considering becoming a councillor, you will find everything you need to know to make your decision, here. Explaining what councils and councillors do, what you will need to do to take your first steps and all about the role and the support you can expect. You do not have to be a member of the big three political parties to stand for election, you can be an independent councillor or stand for another party. You will find information and support here for all avenues.

For councils, this resource provides information on how to run local Be a Councillor activities to attract new talent.
