A public plaza will be created between the new Boston College Mayflower building and the remodelled Boston Leisure Centre to complete the place change investment and the transformation of the area.

The existing front leisure centre car park and access road will be remodelled as well as introducing pedestrian and cycle links between Rowley Road through to and over the Maud Foster drain footbridge.
The plaza will include both hard and soft landscaped areas and will become a space for potential future events, and a space to dwell and relax, making use of a café and catering facilities. The entrance to the plaza area will provide a turning circle with dedicated disabled parking for the leisure centre along wide EV charging points and drop off zone.
Parking for the facility will be shared with the Mayflower building, with parking available behind the new Mayflower building, alongside the Maud Foster and to the rear of the Leisure Centre, and will include cycle parking. Please note it is anticipated that there will be some disruption to parking provisions until the works are completed.
1000 Faces - Community Art Project
As part of the regeneration of the Boston leisure Centre, Transported Art is working with artists Emma and Giuseppe Belli on 1000 Faces, a public artwork celebrating the people of Boston. Residents are invited to sculpt a small portrait of themselves in plasticine, inspired by the historic carved faces in St Botolph's Church. These will be cast and combined to form a permanent installation in the new square.
You can watch a short video about the project here and find full details on the Transported Art website.
