April 2025

I hope everyone enjoyed a peaceful Easter with your loved ones.

Whether you had the school holidays off work or just enjoyed the extended weekend, I hope you all found time to relax and unwind in some way.

We live in such a busy and fast-paced society, so it is important that we all find time to slow down, enjoy the company of friends and family and make memories with the people we love. Taking quality time out is important for all our wellbeing.

I thoroughly enjoyed having a break with my family in sunny Devon and I especially loved the time I got to spend with my four year old granddaughter. We spent ages crabbing on the quayside and she proudly encouraged every single passer by to examine her catch in her crab bucket! While away from home, I still dealt with urgent council business. As Leader of the Council, my commitment to the Borough never stops, even when on holiday. It's a great privilege to be entrusted with leading this council and representing our residents; and I will always deal with important council business when it arises.

One of my favourite activities is meeting with local residents, especially when they make time to come in the Municipal Buildings for a cuppa and a chat! This is a lovely part of my job. I think that Bostonians are the salt of the earth but believe me, they are never afraid to tell me when they disagree with something! If you would like to meet me for a natter please do get in touch.

Working in partnership with the council, the Boston Town Board is now evolving into the Neighbourhood Board to meet with new government guidance and they are doing a lot of great work improving the town through investment and regeneration projects. The local Chairperson, Jo Brigham, is laser focussed in her approach and is seriously committed to implementing projects that will enhance the lives of local residents through the implementation of the Long Term Plan for Towns. This plan will see £20 million invested in the Borough over the next 10 years.

Cllr Dorrian at Rosegarth Square

A good example of regeneration right in the town centre is with Rosegarth Square. This is progressing nicely and it's good to see work well underway. The demolition of B&M and Crown House is now complete and it was a process which had to be closely managed with precision and detail.

New hoarding is now in place around the whole site ready for work later this year for the public realm and for the construction of the mixed-use building which will include apartments and retail units. You can follow the updates on the regeneration here

As always, please find a copy of my Leader's Diary - April 2025 (PDF, 148 KB) and the number of hours spent in meetings and the number of emails I received and sent.

Thank you all once again for taking the time to read my update. I hope you are enjoying them and finding them useful.

Take care
