Join Charlie: 'Cut, clip, drop and forget'
Charlie Pearce is one in 11,371 - for that's how many residents of Boston borough have so far signed up to have their garden waste collected from the kerbside outside their home.
And his brown garden waste bin is one of 13,137 out in the borough for collection every fortnight throughout the growing season.
Charlie, of Butterwick, has taken advantage of the Boston Borough Council garden waste collection service ever since it first became available.
He said: "It saves a long trip to the tip from here, which is time and money, so it makes economic sense and it saves the mess in your car. I think it's a first-rate service. All my grass clippings and shrub clippings go in, and away they go. It's just cut, clip, drop and forget."
There is still time and capacity for more to join the scheme. It costs £25 to buy each brown bin - you can have as many you need for the size of your garden - and then £30 for fortnightly collections for a single bin for the whole season. The charge for additional bins to be emptied is £15 per bin. Final collections before the winter break are week commencing 27 November 2017 and then there will be additional collections in the spring.
If you only have a small garden and will not fill an entire wheelie bin - the brown bins are the same size as your green and blue bins - you can share a bin, and the cost, with a neighbour.
If you want to take advantage of the no-mess, no-fuss garden waste collection service you can register online by Direct Debit or pay by debit or credit card, all at www.boston.gov.uk/gardenwaste or alternatively, you can call our Customer Service Team on 01205 314200 and pay over the phone.
