Local Government Reorganisation

Page created March 21, 2025

Boston Borough Council formally responded to Government to acknowledge the first phase in the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) process.

The Government wants to replace the current system of county and district/borough Councils with unitary authorities.

In December 2024, a White Paper published by the Government asked Councils in two-tier areas across England to work together to submit their interim plans for LGR by Friday, March 21 2025.

As part of this first phase, several different options have been proposed by local authorities across Lincolnshire.

While Boston Borough Council has not submitted an interim plan, the Leader of the Council wrote to the Minister to formally acknowledge the Local Government Reorganisation process.

The letter acknowledges and supports the Minister's view that it is important to find solution that works best for residents.
