Boston Playgoers Scoop Top Award

Boston Playgoers Society recently took part in Hunstanton One-Act Drama Festival and came away with two trophies; Best Supporting Actress for Jo Warrick and the top prize of Best Adult Production.

The Playgoers performed Last Tango in Little Grimley by David Tristram at the Festival which took place at the Princess Theatre in Hunstanton in July. The play is a comedy which follows a small Amateur Dramatic Society in Little Grimley as they try to find a way to attract an audience, sell some tickets and save their society. They had previously performed the play at Blackfriars Theatre last year as part of the theatre's 50th Anniversary Concert.

When presenting the award the adjudicator praised the high standard of acting and team work displayed by the whole cast together with slick direction by Lucy Taylor.

Boston Playgoers Society, who were founded in 1928, have a long history of success at Drama Festivals. A few years ago the society was runners-up at the British All-Winners Drama Festival with their production of The Weir.

Fresh from their success in Hunstanton, the society are now starting rehearsals for their Autumn Production of the Alan Bennett comedy "Habeas Corpus", which they are performing at Blackfriars Theatre on Wednesday to Saturday, October 18 to 21.
