1940s event to see Lancaster flypast

Lincolnshire is known as Bomber County, so the ultimate topping on any 1940s event would be a Lancaster flypast.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight gets more requests for this than it can accommodate... but a request for just that has been approved for the event taking place in Boston on Sunday, June 17, which is Father's Day.

The hugely successful 1940s event will take place on Saturday, June 16, and Sunday, June 17. Weather and other unpredictable events permitting, all eyes should stretch to the skies above Boston on the Sunday.

The free event, in Boston's Market Place on the Saturday and Central Park on the Sunday, will again feature vintage vehicles, 1940s entertainment, retro stalls, an afternoon tea tent, re-enactment displays and a vintage fair.

As in past years visitors are encouraged to attend in 1940s dress, bring a picnic and stay all day.

Organiser Fran Taylor, Boston Borough Council's play and physical activity officer, said: "It's so brilliant to get any flypast, but a Lancaster flypast is just the best for this event. And it's Father's Day, so all dads are welcome. Fingers crossed for good weather."
