Lincolnshire Community Foundation and Dulverton Trust Fund assist Boston Community Transport

Boston Community Transport scheme is a small local charity offering a service to more vulnerable and isolated people or for those who do not have access to or cannot afford public transport or a taxi.

Chairman, Barrie Pierpoint said: "We don't only supply an essential, personal transport service, we offer so much more.  Our drivers will sit and wait to bring each member home again from their appointment, or even accompany them if required.

"Lincolnshire Community Foundation and the Dulverton Trust Fund have assisted the charity to promote their service more widely within the Borough.  They have also been key in supporting our staffing and volunteer costs and assisting with the purchase of a new computer, as well as assisting us to head towards our goal of self-sustainability" said Angela Gould, Office Manager.

"Without funders such as these our essential transport service would not be able to support the many vulnerable and socially isolated members that we do.

"Many of our members have said they would not leave their homes without us.  A friendly face that they recognise picking them up from their homes gives them the reassurance to go out and makes them feel safe."

The charity is run by a group of volunteers, with volunteer drivers who pick members up from their homes and take them to wherever they would like to go and return them safely, ensuring they are inside their home upon return.

Boston Community Transport membership is just £12 per year and offers a very competitive rate of just 60p per mile.  There is a minimum charge of £5 per return journey (up to 9 miles in distance).
