Landmark Boston footbridge set to be spruced up next month
Boston's award-winning St Botolph's footbridge will be closed for cleaning on Monday, September 17.
To enable the work to be carried out safely, the bridge will be closed to the public on that day, with pedestrians redirected via Emery Lane, Town Bridge and Church Street.
Cllr Richard Davies, Executive Member for Highways, said: "Over the last few years, we've seen green algae start to spread across the bridge, so we're going in to clean it off.
"This is something we have been planning for some time, but we've had to source specialist equipment that will allow us to reach the extremities of the bridge with a pressure washer.
"Due to the nature of the work, we'll have to close the bridge for the day. However, it will look much better afterwards, so I'm confident the short-term disruption will be worth it."
