Our website has star quality - it's official
A local government publication with an expert interest in air quality has rated Boston Borough Council as "very good" and awarded it four stars out of a maximum five following its website review of 2012.
The Air Quality Bulletin noted a general reduction nationally in quality of information provided due to cost cutting. However, Boston's website was rated "very good" for quality, four out of five stars, and was in the top 38 (of 433). Just six were rated five-star sites.
It was noted for using "basic data, links and photographs to make a decent looking page with little cost."
The Boston Borough Council website also picked up three stars for the ease with which air quality information could be located. No other council in the region topped Boston's combined quality and ease of finding rating.
The website was judged against others which have assistance from outside agencies.
Cllr Raymond Singleton-McGuire, joint deputy leader and portfolio holder for IT, said: "This is reward for all our efforts with the new website over the past months. Our attempts to make it look better and easier to use have been recognised. This boost may only relate to the air quality section, but we have put the same effort into revamping all sections.
"We don't have a dedicated resource looking after the website. We rely on our web champions to cover this on top of their day jobs and they're doing a brilliant job."
