Calling all owners of empty homes in Boston borough

Owners of empty residential properties in Boston borough should contact the council's empty homes officer to discuss options available to help bring them back into use.

In partnership with Boston Borough Council, two local social housing providers are looking to lease empty homes from owners who may not have the time or funds to refurbish them. The schemes are being delivered with funds from the Homes and Communities Agency, the council and Boston Mayflower or Lincolnshire Rural Housing Association.

The housing provider would refurbish the property to a decent standard, maintain, let it out, and manage it.  Depending on the condition of the property and length of the lease, the owner would receive a regular rental income, and at the end of the agreement, the property would be handed back to the owner in an improved condition.

As an alternative, Boston Borough Council, working with the Lincolnshire Credit Union, may be able to offer an empty home loan of up to £6,000 to assist the owners of empty homes within the borough to return their property back into use.

Owners of empty homes who would like to discuss either scheme should contact the Empty Homes officer on 01205 314329 or email

Each case will be considered by the council and the housing provider or the Lincolnshire Credit Union against set criteria.
