Sizzlin' sausage success

Sausage supremos at Pinchin's Family Farm Shop and Tea Room at Algarkirk have walked off with another clutch of awards.

This time they won gold and silver at the British Sausage Week East Midlands regional finals. Their ploughman's sausage took gold and will go forward to the national final on November 5 at Nottingham, to be judged by chef Simon Rimmer.

They received a silver for their traditional pork sausage.

James and Henny Pinchin will be holding a taster sausage day on November 7, from 10.30am to 3pm. And they will have a sausage night on Friday, November 8. Places are limited and should be booked on 01205 460632.

Henny said: "We are now doing a theme night once a month, bring your own alcohol - everything else provided."

Steak night is on November 29 and Christmas Day will be celebrated on December 13.

Recently they have won a bronze award for their pork pies at the British Pie Awards held in Melton Mowbray - the pork pie capital of the world.

And last year James and Henny entered the Lincolnshire Poacher Competition at the last minute. They only heard about it a few days before the big event at the county showground.

But that didn't stop them from walking off with four gold, eight silver and two bronze for their sausages, bacon, pies, burgers and Lincolnshire plum bread

Their farm shop is in Church Lane, off the A16 near Sutterton roundabout, on the opposite side of the road to Algarkirk village, open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5.30pm, with openings on Sundays for special occasions.

In the run-up to Christmas it will be open seven days a week during December.
