The Leader pays tribute to emergency services as support continues for those affected by flooding
The Leader of Boston Borough Council, Councillor Peter Bedford, has paid tribute to the work of the emergency services and said the Borough Council's immediate thoughts are with those affected by the flooding - the worst to hit Boston for at least 30 years.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Peter Bedford, said: said: "Our immediate thoughts are with all those affected by the devastation of the past 15 hours. The lives of many people, including business owners, have been turned upside down. Talking to those affected you can see the heartache in their eyes - personal belongings ruined; their homes and businesses destroyed - something I hope they never have to experience again.
"Today, the Borough Council moves towards the recovery phase, which will be ongoing for a number of months. We will immediately provide practical advice and guidance to those who were forced from their homes and we will begin a clean up operation to return a level of normality to the town's streets.
"If anyone knows someone who is vulnerable and in need of support they should contact the Borough Council on 01205 314200. Together, as the people of Boston, I hope we can all support one another during this difficult time."
