New Lidl store gets OK for Boston
Boston is to get a Lidl supermarket. Permission has been given for the new store, with 64 parking spaces, on the former Boston Bedworld site in Tawney Street.
Boston Borough Council's planning committee approved the application on Tuesday, with some conditions.
An existing vacant commercial unit and a storage building will be demolished. The applicants say the new supermarket will create about 40 jobs.
Its opening hours will be 8am to 10pm Mondays to Saturdays and 10am to 6pm on Sundays and bank holidays. The single-storey building will be of a striking modern design.
Building work cannot begin until a contaminated land investigation has been done and potential sources of future pollution of land and watercourses are determined and, where necessary, remedies are approved. Noise levels for external plant or equipment have to be approved before construction begins.
