Artwork on the move

Truck 6 took on a different appearance when it became a blank canvas for artwork on the move.

For truck 6 is one of Boston Borough Council's refuse lorries - now adorned with a local scene populated by local heroes.

All six trucks are now out on the road, doing their routine work of refuse, garden waste and recycling collections, vinyl wrapped on both sides with 12 giant-sized works of art.

The art-on-the-move project is a joint initiative between the council and Transported, the Arts Council-funded organisation set up to deliver arts to those who would not normally engage.

The lorry art has been put together by artist Sarah Brown, who undertook consultation to determine where and who should be illustrated. The theme was Boston Hero - to celebrate unsung heroes in the community

Nearly 50 nominations were received and were wide ranging, including individuals, committees and groups, and with varying roles from cleaners to health care workers, and teachers to performers.

Sarah met with as many of the nominated people as possible, to find out more details about what they do and different ways they could be represented.

There will be a chance to see all six decorated lorries together in Boston Market Place from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on Thursday, October 8.
