Boston parkrun

Parkrun has arrived in Boston.

Boston has held its first ever parkrun which takes place at Witham Way Country Park, Tattershall Road, Boston, every Saturday morning at 9.00am.

This is a FREE, weekly 5km timed run that is open to all ages and abilities.

The first event was supported by 23 fantastic volunteers, 107 runners were able to participate in the event.

If you would like to find out more about participating or volunteering at future events, please visit the parkrun website shown to the right of this page.

If you are new to running and not sure whether or not this distance is suitable for you, then why not build up to it gradually using the Couch to 5K initiative.  Taking up running can seem like a scary prospect, especially if you feel out of shape or unfit. However, regular running can help reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke, boost your mood and keep your weight under control.

The NHS Couch to 5K is a free nine-week running plan for people who want to be more active. It's perfect if you're new to running - the plan is all about starting slowly and building up gradually. Anyone can start Couch to 5K - you don't need to be fit! So if you have been thinking about running but not sure where to start then visit the NHS Livewell website shown to the right of this page for more information or to download the app.

In order to maintain good health, government recommendations suggest that adults (aged 19+) should complete 150 minutes per week of moderate intensity activity such as walking.
